I love taking part in events that truly matter. O I love taking part in events that truly matter.

Over the years, I've had the privilege of supporting organisations and causes that seek to make a difference. While every event is unique, they all remind me of the same thing.

The most memorable moments are rarely the speeches or the photographs.

They're the moments when people come together for a shared purpose. When someone quietly lends a helping hand. When a volunteer goes above and beyond. When a stranger opens a door for someone else simply because they can.

That is humanity at its finest.

Every time I witness it, my heart soars.

The truth is, that's what etiquette has always been about. At its core, etiquette is simply respect, kindness, and consideration for others. Everything else, the rules, the rituals and the formalities, is just snobbery. And yes, sometimes well placed snobbery is required.

Because the finest etiquette has never been about impressing people.

It's about uplifting them.

When we choose generosity over indifference, courtesy over convenience and service over self interest, we are practising the purest form of etiquette.

In the end, people rarely remember perfect manners. They remember how you made them feel.

Happy Friday 🌱

Many years ago, while travelling through Cambodia, Many years ago, while travelling through Cambodia, I wandered into a small street market filled with paintings created by local artists. There were hundreds to choose from, but one stopped me in my tracks.
It was a vibrant painting of doors.
Big doors. Small doors. Arched doors. Weathered doors. Doors painted in every colour imaginable.
At the time, I couldn't quite explain why I was so drawn to it. I simply knew I loved it.

Looking back now, I think I understand.
That painting was the story of my life.
Over the years, life has taken me down unexpected roads and through doors I never imagined I would walk through. Some led to breathtaking sunsets and opportunities beyond anything I could have dreamed. Others led to lessons I would never choose to repeat. And there are a few doors that were so beautiful, so meaningful, that although they are now closed, I will always be grateful I once stepped through them.

The truth is that life is a series of doors.
Some we eagerly open. Some we hesitate before. Some we wish we had never entered. And beyond the doors we have already opened are countless more waiting for us.

As I reflect on the journey so far, I hope that when I reach the end of it, I can say I opened every door that mattered. Not perfectly. Not fearlessly. But with grace, poise, curiosity, and dignity.
After all, we rarely get to choose what lies behind the door.
But we do get to choose how we walk through it.

Happy Friday, everyone 🔥 If you've made it throug Happy Friday, everyone 🔥

If you've made it through the week without clutching your pearls, sending a strongly worded email, or dramatically questioning your life choices, congratulations.

Take a moment this weekend to straighten the hair, refill the coffee, restore your sense of humour, and remember that not every fire belongs to you.

Rest well. Monday will arrive soon enough.

Happy Monday, everyone. One of the questions I ge Happy Monday, everyone.

One of the questions I get asked most often is this: does etiquette mean always being agreeable?

The answer is no.

Etiquette is not about becoming a doormat. It is not about suppressing your opinions, avoiding difficult conversations, or saying yes when you really mean no.

Speak up when you have to. Stand your ground. Keep your word. Defend your boundaries. Say what needs to be said.

The difference is in how you do it.

Some of the strongest people you will ever meet are calm, measured and remarkably courteous. They don't need to raise their voices, dominate a room or resort to hostility to make their point. Yet somehow, their message is heard loud and clear.

Kindness is not mildness.

One of the greatest misunderstandings of modern life is that strength must arrive loudly.

It doesn't.

Practice poise. Practice dignity. Practice restraint. But never forget to practice getting your message across, especially when it matters.

You can disagree without becoming disagreeable.
